Middle School

Middle School at Fountain College

Middle School at Fountain College begins in Year 6 and ends in year 9 and provides an education that is guided but not limited to content outlined in the Australian Curriculum.

Teachers work on programs that are engaging and that provide for the needs of all our students. Students are cared for and supported in a welcoming environment, and are encouraged to uphold the school’s values of personal, social and environmental responsibility. Our hope is that students will develop a sense of responsibility and ultimately strive for personal excellence.

The extensive curriculum offered in Middle School not only aligns with the core subjects of the WA Curriculum but also caters for the different interests of our students and gives them opportunities to study different elective courses.

Specialist teachers who are skilled in their learning area provide a range of experiences for students which they may later wish to explore further in Senior School.

In Years 7, 8 and 9 students engage in a rigorous student centred program based on the four core subjects of:

Pastoral care and Co-curricular Programs

It is our belief that students benefit most from a full academic and co-curricular program that promotes a variety of learning opportunities, complemented by pastoral care.

Students experience:

  • The comprehensive learning spectrum from arts and humanities to sport, science and technology, to help them discover their path in life and flourish.
  • A varied list of co-curricular activities, including camps, excursions, performing arts and outdoor education, so that learning does not take place only in the classroom.
  • Pastoral care support to help him grow as an individual, socially as well as academically.

The school’s motto is ‘Engaging minds to inspire success’ with a strong focus on engagement in learning and it is our expectation that students must demonstrate, through their behaviour, the school’s values at all times.
