Learning Support

Learning Support

At Fountain College, we recognise that equitable access to education is key to academic success. To meet the diverse needs of our multicultural students, we have implemented a range of learning support programs.

Reading and Comprehension: One of our primary goals is to enhance the reading and comprehension skills of all our students. To address this, we have introduced specialised programs like MiniLit and MacqLit which are research-based. These programs are designed for children who struggle with reading, focusing on word recognition, decoding, reading fluency, spelling, morphology, and vocabulary.

Literacy Support Programs: We offer various literacy support programs for both primary and secondary students, including:

  • MiniLit and MacqLit Reading Programs
  • Literacy Support Tutors: Available in class and during specifically allocated times

Middle School Support:

  • Math Support Classes: Held during elective times
  • MacqLit: For qualifying students
  • English Support Tutors: Available in class

Senior Secondary Support:

  • Streamed Classes: With a differentiated curriculum
  • EALD Streaming: In ATAR English classes
  • OLNA Support Classes: Held during elective times
  • WACE Support Classes: Held during elective times

Personalised Learning: We offer learning and support classes to assist any student experiencing difficulties in mainstream classes. Our programs are designed to challenge students to go beyond their current level of thinking, acquire deeper understanding, and achieve higher competency. Teaching and learning are adjusted in various ways to personalise the experience for each student. These adjustments are made in close consultation with mainstream teachers to identify and address any needs for change.
